K-LITE becomes York Precision Plastics
“It is not a decision we took lightly,” explained K-Lite’s CEO, Chris Salmon. “After all, the name K-Lite has a long and successful history here in Australia. The change just made sense given that we have never owned the K-Lite name.”
The name K-Lite, and associated “K” prismatic trademarks had been used by K-Lite under license from their original US based parent company KSH who then became ICI, who in turn became INEOS, and who have just recently become Lucite International.
“There’s been quite a progression since the KSH days,” Chris went on to say. “We just felt with our parent company being the York Group here in Australia; it was better to promote a name that we completely own - especially in light of our diversification into non-lighting markets”
From traditionally being a manufacturer of acrylic sheet and wraparound diffusers predominantly used in the lighting industry, in recent times, K-Lite has diversified its operations to include the extrusion of ABS, ASA, HIPS, and more recently PETG materials for applications as varied as internal automotive paneling right through to large corporate external signage.
“We are tremendously proud of what has been achieved under the K-Lite banner,” Chris added. “And to those staff who have worked for us, and to those customers who have supported us for the last 30 years. Rest assured our commitment to servicing our customers will not change with our name.”
